Independent Study Proposal
Hilary Ready 7H

I would like to do an independent study for Unit 1 of Grade 7 music. I have chosen the song "Fur Elise" by Ludwig van Beethoven (see attached sheet music) and I plan to learn the first 32 measures on the piano by December 23.

The reason I have chosen this song is because I really like listening to Beethoven but I have never played any of his music on the piano. I think it will make me a better pianist because the finger patterns challenging and the tempo changes often, something that I am not used to. I know that it is a long and difficult piece to play which is why I do not expect to be able to learn all of it in the amount of time I have been given, and I'd rather do a good job playing a small section of it than learn the whole thing but not be able to play it correctly by the time the project is done.

I understand that working on an independent study requires a lot of time management and self-discipline, meaning that I will be responsible for using my time wisely during music class and will practice at home when necessary. I understand that if Miss Ready feels that I am not responsible with my time during class or that I am not on task, I may lose the privilege of doing an independent study.

I would like to do an independent study for unit 1 of grade 7 music. I have chosen to play ‘Cantina Band’ from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope by John Williams on the alto saxophone.

I want to play this song because I love Star Wars but I have never gotten the opportunity to play the music from the movie. Also, I want to challenge myself and, get some extra practice on my saxophone. I think it is a good opportunity for me to practice quick jumps from lower to higher notes and my stamina. I’m confident that I can complete the song if I work hard, use my time efficiently and practice at home if necessary.

I will bring you the music at nutrition break on Friday.(The picture would not copy onto the page.)

Emily and I are interested in doing an independent study. I will be playing the piano and singing, Emily will be playing the ukulele to When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars. We think we would benefit from this because we have both wanted to play this song for a really long time and when I heard we could do this me and Emily were so excited to work together

We would be so happy to show you our work at the end!

I would like to play the Super Mario Bros. theme song.
I think I would benefit from this because, while i have been playing piano for awhile, I have always had trouble with moving your hand around, and this song contains a multitude of hand movement.
(Also, do I need to bring the sheet music, because I can, but it would be much easier if i didn't need to.)

I would like to do an independent study for unit 1 of grade 7 music. I have chosen the Harry Potter theme song by John Williams and I plan to learn the first 43 measures on the alto saxophone.

The reason I have chosen this song is because I love Harry Potter but I've never had the chance to play this song on the saxophone. Also I want to challenge myself and get some extra practice in too. I think it's a good opportunity for me to practice playing high notes and to practice my stamina. I know that if I work hard ,use my time efficiently and practice at home if necessary, I can complete the first 44 measures.

I understand that working on an independent study requires a lot of time management and self-discipline, meaning that I will be responsible for using my time wisely during music class and will practice at home when necessary. Hi Ms.Ready I was wondering if I could do the independent study. I would like to learn the first 40 measures of Ride by twenty one pilots on the piano and the vocals for the piece. I would still like to participate in the ukulele unit. So if it’s possible I would like to work on most of it at home. Of course if it’s needed I will take time off the ukulele and practice.

I am a self taught pianist and I take singing lessons. I think this will have a great impact on my skill level for the song holds notes for long periods of time,(which I’m not to great with) and when it comes to playing the piano. This song is not too complex to play but it’s not like playing the triangle. It’s more around my skill level. I’d you would like to see the music I can bring it in to class.

I would love to learn this piece for you and for myself to help me feel more confident with my work.
